Ayobola Elegbede, a singer-songwriter born in Nigeria and now residing in Ireland, possesses a deep passion for conveying God's love, spreading joy, and rekindling hope in those around her.
Her affinity for music has been a part of her since childhood, but her journey into gospel music truly began during her teenage years while attending Comprehensive High School (Compro) in Aiyetoro, Ogun State, Nigeria. As a member of the Christian fellowship at Compro, Ayobola also became a key member of the Christian fellowship choir from 1985 to 1991.
In 2012, Ayobola unveiled her debut album, "Igba Ope – Offering Of Thanks," and followed it up with the well-received music video, "Praise Him," in 2022. Currently, she is diligently working on her second album, with the release of its inaugural single, "MY ROCK," in October 2023.
"MY ROCK" serves as a declaration of faith, emphasizing that regardless of challenging circumstances, one can achieve the seemingly impossible by standing firmly on the Rock—God's word—and taking bold steps of faith toward their beliefs.
Reflecting on the inspiration behind her latest single, Ayobola shared, "On March 3, 2015, I attended a women's prayer meeting at my local church. During the meeting, we shared and prayed about our various struggles and challenges. I wasn't feeling particularly joyful that day, so I opened up about a long-standing difficult situation that seemed inescapable. My pastor and the other ladies prayed with me, and my pastor spoke words of encouragement and declared God's promises over me."
"After the meeting, I couldn't stop thinking about the words my pastor had spoken. I fell asleep while meditating on her words, and in my dream, the Holy Spirit began to reveal the lyrics of 'MY ROCK' to me. Since that day, this song has been my anchor anthem during moments of helplessness, depression, disability, or imperfection. It's a song of joy and victory that reminds me that with God, nothing in my heart is impossible. Even in the face of life's storms, troubles, and challenges, I can confidently take bold steps of faith to fulfill my dreams, knowing that God is my unshakable Rock, and His word remains unchanged forever."
Ayobola's journey includes pursuing an academic degree, a dream she held from her teenage years in Nigeria to adulthood in Germany and finally achieving it in Ireland as a mother of five at the age of 40. Her success in attaining this dream, despite the challenges she faced, was inspired by the lyrics of "MY ROCK" and God's unwavering word.
Currently, Ayobola serves as a worship team member at Word of Life Ministries Impact in Co. Cavan, Ireland. She expertly balances a full-time career in social care with her passion for singing and songwriting. In her free time, she prepares and creates content for her weekly motivational online broadcast, "Word & Worship With Ayobola," where she shares the word of God and her music with her audience.
Ayobola is happily married, blessed with children, and continues to make a positive impact in her community, serving as a beacon of inspiration and faith for others.
