Nonye - Chioma Mo

Nonye Jayne Nze-Agwanihu popularly known as Nonye, a Gospel music minister based in Benin City – Edo State, Nigeria. Born into a family of levites, where they sang along together as kids and also sang songs mostly written by her eldest brother, Dr Chidi Obi who has had a great influence in Nonye’s musical career so far.

Nonye discovered her love and passion for music during her secondary school days, from singing hymns, psalms and leading her secondary school choir to leading worship in one of the biggest worship concerts (Worship and Clouds) in Nigeria.

Her influences are Shirley Caesar, Kierra Sheard, Brooklyn Tabernacle Mass Choir, Cece Winans and the Clark Sisters.

“It’s been a journey for me, while as a little girl, I watched my mom sing in the choir (Catholic Charismatic Corner Stone Choir), my love for music grew, I started singing in house fellowship, then to secondary school, the university and then it transitioned into Worship and Clouds, that exposed me into another dimension of music and worship leading. I will describe my music as soulful. A sound that will take us back to the threshold floor”.

Fast-rising gospel musician, NonyeHer debut single “Chioma Mo” which means “My Good God” in Igbo (a tribe in Eastern Nigeria) dialect is an expression of God’s goodness. God is everything that is truly good in this world, and conversely, the evil of this world is the opposite of God.

In the song, Nonye expressed the goodness of God and why we should have faith in His righteousness.

Nonye’s sound is inspired by the love for God and humanity. She hopes to spread the message of love, hope and peace with her music.

“The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him.”–

Nonye - Chioma Mo Lyrics

I’m here to say I’m really truly grateful

For everything you’ve done

You never fail, always the same

Faithful and ever true

I have seen you fight all my battles

And you’ve won every single one of them

Chioma mooooo

The reason I live is to worship

I bu mbalaka mooooo

You’re the pillar that holds my life

I zuru k’emeee

I’m here to say I’m really truly grateful

For everything you’ve done

You never fail, always the same

Faithful and ever true

I have seen you fight all my battles

And you’ve won every single one of them…

Over and over you’ve proven yourself to me

And this is my song

Of praise to you

Chioma mooooo

The reason I live is to worship

I bu mbalaka mooooo

You’re the pillar that holds my life

I zuru k’emeee

Chioma mooooo

The reason I live is to worship

I bu mbalaka mooooo

You’re the pillar that holds my life

I zuru k’emeee

Everything that I am

Is only by your grace

Not by power, not by might

As a living sacrifice

Lord I give myself to you

Pure and holy and so true

And every step that I take

Every breath that I breathe

You are

The pillar that holds my

Pillar that holds my lifeee

Chioma mooooo

The reason I live is to worship

I bu mbalaka mooooo

You’re the pillar that holds my life

I zuru k’emeee
