I Became An Overcomer After Watching The Movie, Overcomer - Samuel Ogunsola

Just when I thought it wouldn’t get any better, I became an ‘Overcomer’. This movie tells the story of two individuals and how their lives intertwined when they discovered and re-invented themselves.

The Story

John Harrison (Alex Kendrick) a father and a high school basketball coach with his team were trying to move past their bad season of high school basketball when tragedy struck. The coach and his team disbanded. Most of his good players moved out of the neighbourhood as a result of the choice of a manufacturing plant in that town.
Several months later, due to the loss of the basketball team, he was told by the principal that the school is losing teachers and coaches. The news got worse when he was informed by the principal that the school needs him to coach their cross-country team. There, John meets Hannah Scott (Aryn Wright-Thompson) who is the only volunteer for the cross-country team. Unfortunately, things turned out from difficult to very difficult upon learning that Hannah is asthmatic and this could hamper his chance at winning coupled with Hannah’s health.

However, this did not stop them from forming a strong bond and as the training continued their bond grew stronger. This helped them to discover themselves and to re-invent themselves into something positive.

Finally, the movie showed us how they were able to overcome their pain and struggle, how they turned every problem into stepping stones. Overall, this is more than just a movie, it’s the realization of who you are and who you are meant to be in Christ.
